(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's and women's bowling teams competed on Sunday (February 4, 2018) at the Eagle Classic hosted by Morehead State University in Lexington, Kentucky.
The men's team finished 10th with 5,819 points. The Saints were led by sophomore Jake Farley (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) with a 188 average. First-year Spencer Becknell (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had a 167 average and sophomore Austin Crone (Florence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had a 158 average. Sophomore Jonathan Frommeyer (Hebron, Ky./Conner) had a 124 average, sophomore Jacob Lawson (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had a 114 average and Griffin Cahill had a 38 average.
Thomas More had 1,877 in the baker games for a 156 average.
The women's team finished 11th with 5,465 points. Sophomore Mandi Chafins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led the Saints with a 166 average. Junior Katie Laine (Delhi, Ohio/Oak Hills) bowled a 156 average and sophomore Erica Travis (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had a 150. First-year Alicia Halstead (Delaware, Ohio/Rutherford B. Hayes) had a 144 average and first-year Gabrielle Hignite (Warsaw, Ky./Gallatin County) had a 136.
The Saints had a 141.5 average with 1,699 points in the baker games.
The women's team returns to action on February 17 and 18 when it travels to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to take on Saint Vincent in a dual match.
