Saints Defeat Westminster in a Close Match-up, 72-65

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College Saints kicked off the second half of their season tonight as they beat President Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Westminster College who had received top 25 votes for the national ranking this week. The Saints beat the Titans 72-65. With the win Saints move to 8-3 on the season and 4-1 in the conference. With the loss, the Titans move to 9-2 on the season and 3-1 in the conference.

Player of the game junior guard Damion King (Winchester, KY/ George Rogers Clark) led the Saints to a victory and finished with the team high 22 points and 6 rebounds. Along with King, senior guard Michael Griffin (Crestwood, KY/ South Oldham) finished with 10 points and junior guard Ryne Callahan (Morehead, KY/ Rowan County) finished with 8 points. Along with the three leading scores junior guard Brandon Horne (Louisville, KY/ Male), junior forward Ralph Stone (Shelbyville, KY/ Martha Layne Collins), and junior center Junior Stockwell (Florence, KY/ Boone County) played huge parts in the win as their energy on the court helped lift the team's energy level at key points of the game.

The Westminster Titans were led by junior guard Austin Armwood who finished with the game high 24 points. Along with Armwood sophomore guard Cameron Kane-Johnson finished with 17 points and senior forward Deontay Scott finished with 10 points.

After the game, we talked with Head Coach Drew Cooper about the game and his team performance and effort and he said, "to find a way to win this basketball game speaks volumes of how far we have come in the past couple weeks. I don't think we win this game two weeks ago".

The Saints will have to put the great team win behind them as they will continue PAC play as they travel to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to take on a tough Geneva College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 PM and fans can go to tmcsaints.com to watch the game live. The Saints will be back inside the Connor Convocation Center on January 17, 2018 as they take on St. Vincent College. At halftime of the men's and women's we will be honoring all our fall sports champions, volleyball, men's soccer, and women's soccer.
