(SANDUSKY, Ohio) – The Thomas More men's golf team shot a two-day total of 623 (317-306) today (Sunday, September 18, 2016) to finished seventh at the Battle at the Brook hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Plum Brook Country Club in Sandusky, Ohio.
First-year Jacob Zai (Cold Springs, Ky./Bishop Brossart) competed as an individual, but finished as the low Saints as he carded a 148 (76-72) to finish tied for eighth. First-year Kyle Alexander (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County) also competed as an individual and finished tied for 13th with a 150 (77-73).
Two other Saints finished in the Top-20 as senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) finished tied for 13th with a 150 (77-73) and senior Darron Hampton (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) carded a 152 (77-75) to finish tied for 20th. Sophomore Matt Striegel (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) finished 38th with a 160 (84-76), junior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) placed tied for 39th with a 161 (79-82) and first-year Max Knisley (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington Court House) finished tied for 51st with a 171 (86-85).
Ohio Wesleyan won the team championship with a 577 (287-290) and the Battling Bishops' Will Efkeman won individual medalist honors with a 141 (70-71).
Thomas More returns to the links on September 24 and 25 when it competes at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Golf Classic hosted by DePauw University at Twin Bridges Golf Club in Danville, Indiana.
