(DANVILLE, Ind.) – Senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) led the Thomas More College men's golf team to a third place finish today (Sunday, September 25, 2016) at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic hosted by DePauw University at Twin Bridges Golf Club in Danville, Kentucky.
The Saints placed third out of 11 schools as they carded a two-day total of 612 (311-301). Kelley earned All-Tournament Team honors as he finished runner-up with a 146 (76-70).
Senior Darron Hampton (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) finished tied of 21st with a 156 (80-76), junior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) finished tied for 25th with a 157 (81-76) and sophomore Matt Striegel (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) finished tied for 29th with a 158 (79-79).
First-years Kyle Alexander (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County) and Max Knisley (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington Court House) competed as individuals as Alexander finished ford 13th with a 154 (75-79) and Knisley placed 53rd with a 168 (82-86).
Birmingham-Southern University won the team championship with a 595 (306-289) and BSU's Gunnar Raney was individual medalist with a 145 (75-70).
Thomas More returns to action on October 3 and 4 when it competes in the first two rounds of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship at Avalon Lakes Golf Club and Squaw Creek Golf Club in Youngstown, Ohio.
