(CANONSBURG, Pa.) – The Thomas More College men's golf team carded a 634 (308-326) today (Monday, October 10, 2016) and won the Peter C. Rossin Memorial on a tie-breaker at the Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
The Saints tied host Washington & Jefferson College at 634, but Thomas More won on a tiebreaker which was the second round score of the highest individual scores from the teams (Kyle Anderson (TMC) 88, Elar Velasco (W&J) 90).
Thomas More had two players finish in the Top-5 as senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) finished second with a 151 (77-74) and junior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) placed third with a 158 (77-81). Two other Saints finished in the Top-10 as senior Darron Hampton (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) finished tied for sixth with a 162 (76-86) and sophomore Matt Striegel (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) finished ninth with a 163 (78-85). First-year Kyle Anderson (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County) finished tied for 16th with a 169 (81-88).
Washington & Jefferson's Jake Darr won individual medalist honors with a 147 (75-72).
Thomas More closes out its fall schedule on October 23 when it competes in the Stateline Shootout at the Hidden Valley Golf Club in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
