(NORTH BEND, Ohio) – The Thomas More College men's golf team finished tied for third place today (Sunday, March 26, 2017) with a 643 (323-320) at the Mount St. Joseph University Spring Invitational at Aston Oaks Golf Club in North Bend, Ohio.
The Saints were led by first-year Kyle Alexander (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County), who tied for seventh with a 154 (79-75). Joining him in the Top-20 was senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) in a tie for 15th with a 158 (79-79).
Rounding out the Saints' scorers were junior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) in a tie for 33rd with a 165 (82-83), senior Darron Hampton (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) in a tie for 37th with a 166 (83-83) and sophomore Mat Striegel (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) in a tie for 57th with a 173 (88-85). Two Saints competed as individuals as first-year Zack Baynum (California, Ky./Campbell County) in 52nd with a 171 (87-84) and first-year Max Knisley (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) in a tie for 63rd with a 176 (84-92).
Transylvania University won the team championship with a 628 (313-315) and the Pioneer's Carson Wattenbarger won individual medalist honors with a 143 (70-73).
Thomas More returns to the links on April 8 and 9 when it competes at the Hanover College Invitational at the Shadowood Golf Club in Seymour, Indiana.
