(VIENNA, Ohio) – The Thomas More College men's golf team shot a second round 305 today (Tuesday, October 3, 2017) and is in first place with a 610 (305-305) in the fall portion of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship at Avalon at Squaw Creek in Vienna, Ohio.
Washington & Jefferson College is second with a 613 (307-306) and Grove City College is in third with a 623 (315-309).
The 2017-18 PAC Championships is a 54-hole stroke play event, with 36 holes played at the Fall Championships and another 18 holes played at the Spring Championships in April. The combined 54-hole team total will determine the 2017-18 PAC team champions and winners of the league's men's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships.
Senior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) and junior Matt Striegel (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) tied for medalist honors with matching 150s. Hibbard had a 74-76 and Striegel had a 76-74.
Sophomore Kyle Alexander (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County) finished seventh with a 151 (74-76), sophomore Zack Baynum (California, Ky./Campbell County) tied for 19th with a 160 (81-79) and sophomore Jacob Zai (Cold Spring, Ky./Bishop Brossart) finished 23rd with a 163 (80-83).
Thomas More returns to action on October 7 and 8 and when it competes at the Stateline Shootout hosted by Mount St. Joseph University at Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Course in Harrison, Ohio.
