Men's Golf Finishes Second By a Stroke at UPIKE Invite

(PRESTONSBURG, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's golf team shot a 612 (314-298) to finish second today (Sunday, April 15, 2018) at the University of Pikeville Spring Invitational at Stone Crest Golf Club in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.

Three Saints earned All-Tournament honors as sophomore Kyle Alexander (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County) finished tied for fourth with a 152 (80-72), sophomore Zack Baynum (California, Ky./Campbell County) tied for fourth with a 152 (75-77) and first-year Nick Drake (Bowling Green, Ky./South Warren) also finished tied for fourth with a 152 (79-73).

Senior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) tied for 11th with a 156 (80-76) and junior Matt Striegel (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) finished tied for 17th with a 161 (83-78).

Four Saints competed as individuals.  First-year Robby Case IV (Crestview Hills, Ky./Covington Latin) finished 13th wit ha 158 (82-76), sophomore Jacob Zai (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) was 26th with a 177 (89-88), first-year Kyle Redden (Cincincnati, Ohio/Anderson) finished 29th with a 180 (89-91) and sophomore Blake Baioni (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) was 34th with a 198 (104-98).

Pikeville won the team championship with a 611 (302-309) and Shawnee State Unviersity's Jordan Tieman won individual medalist honors in a playoff after carding a 148 (78-70).

The Saints return to the links on April 22 when they compete in a tri-match with Saint Vincent College and Washington & Jefferson College on the Jones Golf Course at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
