Men's Soccer Falls On The Road to Denison

(GRANVILLE, Ohio) – The Thomas More College men's soccer team fell. 1-0, to Denison University today, Sept 27. With the loss, the Saints are now 4-4-1 on the season and with the win, the Big Red are now 4-5 overall.

Denison went up early in the first half from a goal from a header by Denison's Jordan Williams in the third minute to make the game 1-0. Bryce Day had a total of four shots on goal throughout the match, one early in the match in the fifth minute that went high. Another in the 13th minute that was blocked by Denison's keeper. Day got a shot in right before half-time in the 27th minute that was blocked. With time winding down, gave it on last shot to get the Saints on the board in the 89th minute, but the kick went wide of the goal.

Suli Kayed and Colin Dean each had 3 shots, trying to tie the match up. Two of Dean's shots came back-to-back right before half time, putting the pressure on Denison's keeper. Similar to Day, Dean tried to get one last shot in before the match ended in the 83rd minute that resulted in a save by Denison's keeper. Kayed also had the majority of his shots in the first half. He started the second half off strong with a shot in the 46th minute that was saved by Denison's keeper.

Thomas More dominated the shot ratio, 20-9. Jeff Paulin came into goal for Andrew Mathews for the second half. In his 45 minute showing, he recorded two saves and no goals allowed.

The Saints are on the road next match and start conference competition on Sept. 30 at Grove City. The match is set to start at 3:30 PM.
