(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's soccer team shutout Washington & Jefferson College, 3-0, today (Tuesday, October 3, 2017) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 6-4-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Presidents fall to 7-3 overall and 0-1 in the PAC.
The Saints took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute when sophomore forward Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) scored unassisted).
First-year defender Adam Mathews (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) increased the lead to 2-0 at the 52:58 mark when he scored off an assist from first-year forward Ibra Goumballe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills). Junior midfielder Suli Kayed (Union, Ky./Ryle) closed out the Saints' scoring in the 57th minute when he scored unassisted for the final score of 3-0.
Junior goalkeeper Jeff Paulin (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) earned the shutout in goal as he played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves.
Thomas More out-shot W&J, 18-4, including 8-3 on-goal.
The Saints return to action on Thursday (October 5) when they host Ohio Wesleyan University at 5 p.m. at BB&T Field.
