Men's Soccer Defeats Saint Vincent, 4-1

(LATROBE, Pa.) – The Thomas More College men's soccer team travelled to Latrobe, Pa. taking on Saint Vincent. The Saints defeated the Bearcats 4-1, improving their record to 9-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the PAC. With the loss, Saint Vincent falls to 3-10-1 overall and 0-4 in the PAC.

The Bearcats took the lead first with a goal by Ian Garay in the 18th minute, but the Saints had an answer. In the 23rd minute, Ibra Goumballe tied it up, 1-1, finding the back of the net with an assist from Ethan Smith. The Saints went up 2-1 right before half-time in the 39th minute when Hrusto Selimovic scored off an assist from Kayin Tennon.

Coming out of the half, Saint Vincent scored on their own goal, putting the Saints up 3-1. In the 78th minute, Jack Berner had a breakaway down the right side of the field and made it past the keeper and scored the go-ahead goal for the Saints, putting them up 4-1.

Jeff Paulin played 83 minutes in the match, allowing one goal and had one save on two shots on goal. Andrew Mathews took his place with six minutes to go. He faced no shots on goal.

The Saints dominated the shot ratio, 22-6, recording 11 in each half. Smith, Selimovic, and Colin Dean led the Saints recording three shots each.

Thomas More is back in action Oct. 17, hosting Geneva. The match is set to start at 2:30 PM at Griffin Plaza on BB&T Field.
