Men's Tennis Falls to Generals in NCAA First Round

(ATLANTA, Ga.) – The Thomas More College men's tennis team fell, 5-0, to Washington & Lee University today (Friday, May 11, 2018) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship hosted by Emory University at the P.E. Woodruff Outdoor Tennis Courts in Atlanta, Georgia.

With the loss, the Saints end the season at 13-4.  With the win, the Generals improve to 13-6.

In doubles play, Washington & Lee won all three matches.  The No. 1 team of junior Derrick Kwok (Sugar Land, Texas) and first-year Jared Haught (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) fell 8-2, the No. 2 pair of sophomore Sheldon Preisler (San Diego, Calif./Boone County (Ky.)) and first-year Jeffrey Schenk (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) fell 8-4 and the No. 3 team of first-year Brandon Kwok (Sugar Land, Texas) and sophomore Logan Daniels (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) fell 8-1.

W&L clinched the 5-0 win when the first singles two matches were complete.  Derrick Kwok fell at No. 1 by the score of 6-0, 6-3 and Schenk fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2.

The Saints won their second-straight PAC Championship Tournament and made their second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
