(TERRE HAUTE, Ind.) – The Thomas More College men's track & field team opened the outdoor season with a fourth place finish today (Saturday, March 18, 2017) at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Early Bird Invitational at the William R. Welch Track Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Thomas More finished fourth out of eight teams with 99 points as it had 29 scorers, including 13 finishes in the Top-5.
Sophomore Logan Winkler (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) won the high jump with a jump of 6-02.75. Junior Zach Hans (Louisville, Ky./Holy Cross) had two Top-5 finishes as he was third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.96-seconds and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.44. Senior Wesley Lewis (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill) also had two Top-5 finishes as he was third in the long jump with a mark of 20-05.25 and third in the triple jump with a mark of 40-10.50.
Sophomore Michael Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) was second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:14.35, and first-year David Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-11.25. Senior Brandon Neal (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.37-seconds, first-year TJ Moore (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) was fifth in the 200-meter dash with time of 23.25-seconds, while first-year Corey Young (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) was fifth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:06.47.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Neal, Moore, Winkler and sophomore Patrick Moultrie (Fresno, Calif./McLane) finished third with a time 44.23-seconds and the 4x200-meter relay team of Young, Nare, first-year Zack Osburg (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) and first-year Cameron Van Huss (Covington, Ky./Ludlow) was third with a time of 3:35.50.
The Saints return to action on March 25 when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to compete at the Pioneer Invitational hosted by Transylvania University.
