Thomas More Competes in NCAA Championship First Round

(HOUSTON, Texas) – The Thomas More College women's golf team shot a first round 395 today (Tuesday, May 9, 2017) and are in 22nd place at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at the 5,869-yard par 72 Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.

The Saints were led by sophomore Emily Armbrecht (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross), who is 103rd after carding a 93.  Senior Emilie Mattei (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and sophomore Sara Jackie (Louisville, Ky./Scared Heart Academy) are tied for 111th after finishing with matching 100's.

Sophomore Christie Modafari (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame Academy) is in 114th with a 102 and first-year Sophia Illokken (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) is in 116th after a 112.

Rhodes College leads the team standings with a 301 and Williams College's Phoebe Mattana leads the individual standings with a 69.

The Saints will begin the second round tomorrow starting at 1:25 p.m. (EDT)/12:25 p.m. (CDT) on the first tee at Bay Oaks Country Club.
