(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Thomas More College women's soccer hosted Saint Vincent College on Senior Day in their first conference game of the season. The Saints won 2-0 to move to 10-0-1 while Saint Vincent falls to 1-4-4.
"Congratulations to the seniors on a great career and a hard win today," said TMC head coach Jeff Cummings. "They have pushed the program to new heights and will be missed."
The Saints were in control from the opening kickoff as all nine seniors started the game for Thomas More. The Bearcats parked the bus with ten in the box for the entire game. The Saints outshot the visitors 18-0 and had a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.
There were numerous half chances that somehow stayed out of the net. In the 41st minute Taylor Robinson (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) slipped a great ball through to unlock the defense for the opening goal scored by Olivia Neinaber (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart).
In the second half there were a number of dangerous opportunities that went begging to be put away. In the 82nd minute Josie Perrino (Tracey, Calif./St. Mary's) ran down a ball and played it to Ali Whalen (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) who took off like she was shot out of a rocket. Whalen went around the end and put in a shot spilled by the goal keeper. Abby Stadtmiller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) alertly pounced on the loose ball to make the final score line 2-0.
The Saints next two games are away in conference. They travel to Waynesburg University on Wednesday, October 5th and to Chatham University on Saturday, October 8th.
