(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The fourth-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team a 6-0 lead 15 minutes into today's (Monday, October 10, 2016) and never looked back as it shutout Thiel College, 8-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints remain unbeaten at 13-0-1 overall and 4-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 2-10-1 overall and 1-3 in the PAC.
First-year forward Olivia Nienaber (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) led the Saints' offensive attack as she recorded assists on the first two goal and then scored the next two goals. Senior midfielder Lauren Rose (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) tallied two goals in the match.
Senior defender Josie Perrino (Tracey, Calf./St. Mary's) scored one goal and added an assist against the Tomcats. Senior midfielder Taylor Robinson (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County), senior midfielder Erika LaRosa (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and first-year forward Shaye Isaacs (Nicholasville, Ky./West Jessamine) each found the back of the net once, while sophomore defender Sam Cetrulo (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) had an assist off a corner kick.
Senior goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) earned the win as she played the first 45 minutes, while junior goalkeeper Sydney Polster (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) played the final 45 minutes.
Thomas More outshot Thiel 38-0, including 22-0 on-goal. The Saints won the battle of corner kicks 9-0.
The Saints return to action on Saturday (October 15) when they travel to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania to play Westminster College at 12 p.m.
