(WHITEWATER, Wisc.) – The NCAA announced its pods for the 3rd and 4th rounds of the Division 3 Women's Soccer National Tournament with University of Chicago, Pomona-Pitzer College, and University Wisconsin-Whitewater. The pod will play on Saturday, November 19th and 20th in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
By advancing to the Sweet 16 Thomas More College is one of only three teams to advance to the 3rd round in four consecutive tournaments. The TMC defense have the most shut outs in the nation this year with 19. And they have the lowest goals against average of anyone in the NCAA tournament of 0.14 goals per game.
Thomas More College will be playing the University of Chicago in a rematch from last year's second round won by the Saints 1-0. The game is at noon Eastern time on Saturday the 19th with links to live video and stats on the women's soccer schedule page at TMCSaints.com. The second game of the pod is between hosts University Wisconsin-Whitewater and Pomona-Pitzer College at 2pm Eastern. The two winners will play on Sunday the 20th for the right to go to the Final Four.
The Thomas More Saints (22-0-1) earned the Presidents' Athletic Conference's (PAC) automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament after winning the PAC Championship Tournament. Their path to the Sweet 16 went through Penn State-Behrend, 3-1, in the first round and Lynchburg College, 1-0, in the second round.
The Pomona-Pitzer Sage Hens (16-1-3) from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Their path to the Sweet 16 went through UC Santa Cruz, 5-2, in the first round and Claremont Mudd Scripps, 6-0, in the second round.
The University of Chicago Maroons (17-3) from the University Athletic Conference (UAA) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Their path to the Sweet 16 went through Webster College, 6-0, in the first round and Augsburg College, 2-0, in the second round.
The University Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks (22-1) earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament after winning the WIAC Championship Tournament. Their path to the Sweet 16 went through University Minnesota-Morris, 3-0, in the first round and Loras College, 3-0, in the second round.
