(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – Thomas More College seniors Laura Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry), Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) and Erika LaRosa (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III Women's Scholar All-America Teams.
Felix is a first-team selection for the second-straight year. She is carrying a 3.98 grade point average in Pre-Medicine. Felix, the 2016 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year, was recently named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region First Team for the third-straight year. A four-time All-PAC selection and two-time first team pick, Felix ranked second on the team in assists (5) and fourth in points (17) and goals scored (6). She finished the nine-match PAC regular season with four goals and a pair of assists.
Barton and LaRosa were both named to the second team. Barton posted 18 individual shutouts and combined on another as the Saints' defense led the nation in shutouts with 19. She also posted 42 saves and had a 0.30 goal against average. LaRosa was second on the team in scoring with 29 points on 12 goals and five assists. She had a .414 shot on-goal percentage and scored a team-high-tying five game winning goals.
The Saints finished the 2016 season with their sixth-straight PAC Championship, a 22-1-1 mark and peaked at a No. 3 in the national ranking, which included a return to the sweet 16 or better for the fourth-straight year. The Saints are one of only three teams out of 433 NCAA Division III to achieve this level of national tournament success in four consecutive years. The five are also part of a senior class for the Saints that had a superlative career with an 83-5-5 record and a .919 winning percentage. The senior class only experienced one loss on their home field in their careers.
