(GREENVILLE, Pa.) - The Thomas More College women's tennis team split two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches today (Saturday, September 15, 2012) as it fell, 8-1, to Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania, but defeated Thiel College, 5-4, in its second match of the day in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
With the split, the Saints are now 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the PAC.
In the first match of the day, the Saints got their lone point from senior Emily Wesselman (Union, Ky./St. Henry), who won 7-5, 6-3 ant No. 2 singles.
In the second match of the day, Thomas More had a 2-1 lead after doubles as the No. 1 tandem of Wesselman and junior Maria Pascual (Carrollton, Ky./Christian Academy of Carrollton) won 8-5 and senior Sierra O'Bryan (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Latin) and freshman Paige Thoerner (Taylor Mill, Ky./Beachwood) teamed to win 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Pascual won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1, Wesselman won at No. 2 by the scores of 6-4, 6-3 and O'Bryan won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday (September 19) when they host Miami University-Middletown at 5 p.m. at the Notre Dame Academy Courts in Park Hills, Kentucky.
