(WASHINGTON, Pa.) – Senior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the Thomas More College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Washington & Jefferson College tonight (Friday, October 7, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match inside the Henry Memorial Gymnasium in Washington, Pennsylvania. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-18.
With the win, the Saints improve to 12-8 overall and 10-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Presidents fall to 14-6 overall and 8-4 in the PAC.
Meyer finished the match with a match-high 17 kills and a match-high-tying two service aces to lead the Saints' offensive attack. First-year outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) and senior middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) each finished with eight kills. First-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) paced the offense with 42 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Leanne Dant (Louisville, Ky./Bethlehem) added two service aces.
On the defensive side of the net, junior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led Thomas More with 18 digs. Krumpleman and Meyer each finished with double-digit digs as they had 16 and 17 respectively.
Thomas More travels to Westerville, Ohio tomorrow for a non-conference tri-match. The Saints will play Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 1:30 p.m. and host Otterbein University at 6:30 p.m.
