(BETHANY, W.Va.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team fell, 3-1, to Bethany College tonight (Saturday, November 5, 2016) in the championship match of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at Hummel Field House in Bethany, West Virginia. Bethany won the match by the scores of 25-19, 25-23, 20-25 and 26-24.
With the loss, the Saints end the season at 21-10. With the win, the Bison improve to 25-11 and earn the PAC's automatic bid to next week's NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Senior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the Saints' offense attack with 17 kills. Senior middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) also finished with double-digit kills with 10. Senior right side Paige Noday (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) and first-year outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) just missed double-digit kills with eight each. First-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) paced the offense with 40 assists.
Meyer also led the Saints defensively as she recorded 19 digs. Joining her with double-digit digs was junior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) with 18 digs and first-year outside hitter Sara Crooker (Williamsburg, Ohio/McNicholas) with 15. First-year middle hitter Rana Cousin (Bowling Green, Ky./Warren Central) led the Saints' block effort with three.
