(GREENVILLE, Pa.) - Thomas More College first-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Freshman of the Year and five Saints were named All-PAC today (Tuesday, November 8, 2016) by the Conference's head coaches.
Borders, who was also named first-team All-PAC, led the PAC in assists per set (9.96) and finished second in total assists (1,076) while ranking 35th and 38th, respectively, among NCAA Division III counterparts. She added 229 digs (2.12 per set), 44 blocks (6 solo, 38 assisted) and 26 service aces and hit at a .306 clip, totaling 133 kills on 305 total attempts.
Senior middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and senior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) joined Borders on the first team. Bierbaum led the team in kills with 292 (2.83 per set) and blocks with 62 (0.60 per set). She hit .347 for the season and added 11 assists, seven service aces and 52 digs. Meyer was second on the team in kills with 288 (3.51 per set), service aces with 36 (0.44 per set) and digs with 283 (3.45 per set). She hit .261 with 24 assists and 12 digs.
Senior outside hitter Paige Noday (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) and junior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) were named second team All-PAC. Noday hit .261 with 213 kills and five service aces this season. On the defensive side the net, she had 64 digs and 30 total blocks. Bronner led the team in digs with 448, while she recorded 69 assists and 32 service aces. She added eight kills this past season.
Thomas More finished the 2011 campaign with a 21-10 overall record and a 16-2 mark in the PAC and advanced to the finals of the PAC tournament for the fifth straight season.
