(WAYNESBURG, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball clinched the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season and the No. 1 seed in the conference championship tournament tonight (Saturday, October 21, 2017) as it defeated Waynesburg University, 3-0, at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-11
With the win, the Saints improve to 25-5 overall and remain undefeated in the PAC at 16-0. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 1-22 overall and 0-16 in the PAC.
First-year outside hitter Carlee Lambert (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the Saints' attack with 10 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) and sophomore middle hitter Jenna Mummert (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Northeastern) each finished with six kills. First-year setter Madison Read (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) paced the offense with 20 assists, while junior setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) tallied 12 assists.
On the defensive side of the net, first-year defensive specialist Jessica Ginn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the team in digs with nine, while Read and sophomore outside hitter Sara Crooker (Williamsburg, Ohio/McNicholas) each had four digs.
The Saints return to action next Saturday (October 28) when they travel to Grove City, Pennsylvania to play Grove City College at 1 p.m. at the Grove City College Arena.
